As a Black Lives Matter organization, fighting gentrification, police violence, and displacement in the belly of the beast of Brooklyn, New York , we demand that the US government stop funding “isn’t real”’s imperialist genocidal aggression against the people of the Middle East!
The capitalist US government REFUSES to provide its own people with REAL affordable housing, healthcare, disaster relief & jobs here at home. Why is there always money for more cops and war when especially Black people, have never received one penny for reparations for the devastating brutality of chattel slavery, state sanctioned lynchings, mass incarceration, medical experimentation and a full out historical war against of Black people in the US?
Black people have not even “recovered” from economically devastation of the COVID-19 Pandemic! Yet, everyday Black people are fighting for our very lives, to stop the evictions because we have lost our jobs, to stop the police from killing our loved ones for simply calling 911, to stop predatory developers from stealing our homes and closing down our small businesses. Our elders , children and families are going hungry and becoming houseless while the US pours BILLIONS to arm the fascist apartheid state of Israel!
Equality for Flatbush was founded in 2013 as a direct response of growing tenant harassment, deed fraud and police murders in Flatbush, Crown Heights and East Flatbush, Brooklyn. 11 years later, we are a Brooklyn-wide organization forced to provide our communities with emergency funds, housing and food because the City of New York is hell-bend in gentrifying, destroying and displacing historically Black and Brown migrant communities.
We understand that our stance against the genocides in Sudan, Congo, Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen and the US-sponsored violence in Haiti makes us less desirable to mainstream funders, but we refuse to stay silent as BIPOC around the world are being bombed and starved into extinction.
As community groups we are told to “stay in our lane” and NOT takes stands against issues that are not part of our mission . As an anti-capitalist, abolitionist group based in Brooklyn, New York fighting for the liberation of Black and Brown peoples, We will not be silent and send our solidarity, outrage and revolutionary love to freedom fighters everywhere!
More than ever, WE need MONEY for HOUSING and EDUCATION, not for WAR and GENTRIFICATION!
